Robot Dreams is a 2023 animated tragicomedy film written and directed by Pablo Berger. The film follows an unusual friendship between a dog and a robot in New York City in 1984.[9] The film does not contain any dialogue. In 1980s Manhattan, Dog lives alone. After seeing a TV advertisement, Dog decides to order a robot friend, which he assembles upon delivery and then takes out to explore Manhattan, such as roller skating in Central Park to the song "September". Over the course of the summer, the two become inseparable friends.
My First Film is a 2024 American drama film, directed by Zia Anger from a screenplay by Anger and Billy Feldman. A young filmmaker recounts the struggle to make her first feature. Natalie Winkelman of IndieWire gave the film an A- writing: "My First Film is, at its core, a movie not about upheaval but about yearning, and about how, sometimes, giving that yearning up can be a beautiful, generous act of creation all its own." Richard Brody of The New Yorker praised the film writing: "A masterwork of an artistic coming of age and a virtuosic reconception of the art of cinema itself."
